On October 15, 2020, the Sunnyslope High School administration was informed that a student athlete involved in the football program tested positive for COVID-19. The individual has not been at football practice since Monday, October 12, 2020. You are receiving this notice because your student athlete may have been in contact with this person. Please monitor the health of your child until October 26, 2020, for any COVID-19 symptoms and seek medical attention if necessary.
In accordance with current public health guidelines, your student athlete will not be able to attend school in person until October 27, 2020 and the Sunnyslope varsity football team cannot practice or compete through October 26, 2020. Sunnyslope varsity football practice will resume on October 27, 2020.
Sunnyslope High School is committed to providing a safe environment for all students, employees and visitors. The school has followed all recommended guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Maricopa County Health Department. Any area on campus that the individual may have visited has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
Sunnyslope High School understands that receipt of this letter is difficult. We appreciate your understanding that the school is unable to provide further details in order to maintain confidentiality of the individual. Please contact Assistant Principal Tim Matteson at 623-915-8765, or Principal Jonathan Parker at 623-915-8764, if you have any questions.
Another long standing tradition is the Varsity Thursday Team meals. In the past we held these at Trinity Lutheran Church (which has a kitchen, tables, chairs, and AC!) but due to Covid we can’t socially distance so they are being moved to the Slope Cafeteria. Marissa Hicks has volunteered to coordinate this year and we need Parents to sign up! Please TEXT ONLY Marissa at cell #602-819-0640 to sign up. If possible, it helps if a family can sign up for a complete meal, ie; entrée, sides, desert, but if not, then contact Marissa to see if there are open spots for one of the 3 items. It is important that the food is available at the required time (usually ready to serve at 5:00 p.m.). We also need others who can routinely show up to help, 3-4 others would be awesome and much appreciated by Marissa
We are looking for any restaurants that can host a varsity team meal on Friday night (we pick up and eat in cafeteria). We provide a hosted meals to the Varsity team before every game, and endeavor to provide meals to the JV and Fr for all HOME games. That is a lot of hosted meals, so we need your help. Please coordinate with me. email@example.com

It has been a long standing tradition that Varsity and Freshmen parents paint the field before EVERY home Varsity football game. All players/parents benefit from this as ALL home games are played on the Varsity field. The painting occurs on Thursdays before Varsity home games only between the times of 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Come wearing old shoes and clothes because there is a good chance you will get paint on you. Hannibal Kruger is our Paint Master, and has all the paint, sprayers, buckets, etc. needed. WE NEED HELPERS! Hannibal will tell you exactly what to do. We make sure you are hydrated as well, and I’m told there maybe adult beverages for participants. Reach Hannibal at Hannibal.email@example.com or cell 602-377-5298.
